The short version
Hiring an AI developer usually means one of three things: an offshore full-timer, a contractor by the hour, or an agency by the project. Before any of them, the question worth asking is whether a headcount is the right instrument at all, or whether the thing you need is a scoped piece of work that is simply done.
Here is the honest maths the marketplaces will not show you. A full-time hire is a loaded salary and a search the market measures in weeks, before anyone writes a line of code. A contractor is an open-ended hourly rate. An agency sells you a project that runs into the hundreds of thousands. Our own builds shipped in two weeks to three months, and our build tier starts at $2,500. Often the cheaper, faster answer is not a person at all, and we will say so.
When a person genuinely is the answer, that is what this is. Hire AI developers from us and you get the people who actually shipped the products in our portfolio, embedded in your team on terms we put in writing, not a roster you never meet and cannot check.
What we put in writing
The commitments a marketplace and a body shop will not make. These are ours, up front, before you sign anything.
People who shipped, not resumes
The developers you would get are the ones who built the products in our portfolio, start to launch. You are hiring a track record you can click through, not a bench of names and a star rating you have to take on faith.
A trial, not a leap of faith
There is no draft mode for a person, so the honest version is a trial period. If the fit is wrong, you say so and we swap or stop, on terms agreed before anyone starts. A hire you cannot reverse is the risk we take off the table.
You manage them, or we do
Whose standup, whose planning, whose code review: we settle that on day one, not in month two. Drop them into your process, or let us run the work and report out. Either way it is decided up front and written down.
No knowledge walks out the door
When an engagement ends, what they built and what they learned stays with you: documented, handed over, in your repositories. The context lives in your systems, not in a head that just resigned, which is the quiet cost of a hire nobody warns you about.
A rate and a minimum, said plainly
The rate, the minimum engagement, and the notice to end it are on the table before you commit, set by seniority and length. No mystery day rate, no ramp you did not agree to. What it costs, and what you can walk away from, you know first.
How it works
Before we send anyone, we make sure a person is actually the answer.
We pressure-test the hire
We start with the work you are trying to get done, not the seat you are trying to fill. If a scoped build or an existing tool does the job for less than a salary, we tell you, because a headcount you did not need is the most expensive thing on this page. When a person really is the answer, we move.
You meet the actual person
Not an account manager, not a roster, not a profile. The developer who would do your work, who can talk through the things in our portfolio because they built them. You decide on the human you would actually be working with.
They start on real work fast
No recruiting cycle, so someone is on your real work in days, not the 30 to 60 the market quotes just to fill the seat. We will not pretend there is zero ramp: a good developer still has to learn your business, and anyone who claims otherwise is selling you something. We just start the clock far earlier.
They leave, you keep what they knew
When it ends, it ends cleanly. The code is in your repositories, the decisions are documented, and the context lives in your systems rather than in a head that just walked out. You keep everything the engagement built, which is the opposite of how a resignation usually goes.
Ours have shipped, not just coded
There is a difference between a developer who closes tickets and one who has taken a product from an empty document to a launch. Ours have done the second, repeatedly, and every one of those products is in the portfolio for you to check. That is what you are hiring: people who have owned an outcome, not just executed a spec someone handed them.
The honest flip side, because it is the same coin: if what you actually need is a pair of hands to work through a backlog someone else has already scoped, hire a cheaper one. We are worth it when the person has to make calls, not just take them.
Meet the Nine BrainsWhat it costs
Whatever you need from us is priced through the same three Build tiers. No separate rate card, no surprises.

Questions, answered
How is this different from an agency, Upwork, or hiring in-house?
A marketplace rents you hours and leaves the vetting to you. An agency sells you a bench you never meet. Hiring in-house is the right move when you already know exactly what to hire for, and if you do, do that, it is cheaper over years. We sit in between: the specific people who shipped our portfolio, embedded like your own team but with no recruiting cycle, on terms we publish. When in-house is genuinely the better call, we will tell you.
How much does it cost to hire an AI developer?
For context, a full-time hire is a loaded salary you carry for a year on a search measured in weeks, a contractor is an open-ended hourly rate, and an agency project runs into the hundreds of thousands. Our model is different. A scoped build starts at $2,500 one-time, and an embedded developer is priced on the call by seniority and how long you need them, with the rate and minimum agreed before you commit. If you would rather we simply run the work, that is Growth Partner, an introductory $1,250 a month that renews at $2,500 a month.
Who are these developers, and are they your staff?
They are our people, not a subcontracted stranger sourced after you sign. You meet the actual developer before anything starts, you know who they are and where they work from, and the vetting is done, because they have already shipped the products we point to. If a role needs production access or sits under an NDA, we set that up explicitly rather than assume it.
What if the developer is not a good fit?
You are not stuck with them. Because there is no draft mode for a person, the safeguard is commercial: a trial period agreed before they start, after which you can swap the developer or end the engagement on the notice we set out up front. A hire you cannot undo is exactly the risk we are trying to take off your plate.
Who manages the developer day to day?
Whatever you want, decided on day one. Drop them into your standup, your board and your review process and manage them like your own, or hand us the outcome and let us run the work and report back. Most teams pick one deliberately rather than drift into the worst of both, so we make it an explicit choice at the start.
Who owns the code they write for us?
You do. Everything a developer writes for you is yours, committed to your repositories as they go, not handed over at the end. When the engagement closes, there is nothing to claim back and nothing held hostage: the work is already in your hands, in your name, on your infrastructure.
